Role Overview

As a Consultant - IT Infrastructure & Cloud, you will design, implement, support, and maintain technology systems and cloud solutions based on the latest Microsoft technologies. You will contribute significant expertise to infrastructure-related projects, and may lead elements of projects when available. Additionally, you will likely have leveraging expertise to dedicatedly identify, diagnose, and respond to infrastructure and systems issues.

Key Role Responsibilities

Day-to-day, you will:

  • Contribute to planning, designing, implementing and testing of infrastructure changes and improvements to infrastructure environments
  • Contribute to infrastructure project change, deployment, and release management efforts (e.g., enterprise-wide business directories, desktop deployments, server consolidation) as directed on projects
  • Participate in service failure analysis when availability issues arise
  • Contribute to DevOps activities and standards, crafting with a mind toward failure modes
  • Ensure Avanade successfully migrates our customers to new Microsoft systems and technologies
  • Create build automation and/or build guides for repeatable server builds and deployments
  • Build training material for users of new platforms and technologies
  • Perform testing activities: performance testing, systems integration testing (SIT), component integration testing (CIT), and user acceptance testing (UAT)
  • Assist in evaluating processes and infrastructure design to more expertly manage operations and reduce costs
  • Assist in evaluating new technologies and new releases; conduct cost analysis of newly designed platforms and technologies
  • Analyse and assess the impact and risk of low to medium risk changes on production systems
  • Resolve low-level incidents affecting production systems, through troubleshooting methods, root-cause analysis, implementing known fixes, and discovering new fixes
  • Build and review technical system recovery plans; co-ordinate & assist in disaster recovery tests

Key Role Skill & Capability Requirements:

Technical Requirements - Strong experience in several of the following areas:

  • Design and deployment of Microsoft infrastructure solutions; Windows Server & Desktop, Virtualization, Azure Cloud (Iaas & Paas), Platform Migrations, Active Directory & Networking (inc. DNS/DHCP)
  • Experience with Microsoft systems & operations management technologies such as SCCM & SCOM
  • Experience with clustering technologies and high availability
  • Experience with Windows Server end of life upgrades & platform migrations
  • Experience with Intune / Microsoft Enterprise Mobility Suite
  • Experience with PowerShell, automation and scripting

Non-Technical Requirements

  • Experience interacting with internal clients from diverse professional backgrounds
  • Experience working with global teams, including working with off-shore teams to facilitate project work
  • Demonstrated excellence in communicating and presenting complex information to technical and non-technical stakeholders, both verbally and in written form
  • Solid written and spoken English skills

Preferred Certifications:

MCSA – Windows Server 2016 required, or within 1 year of hire

MCSE – Core Infrastructure required, or within 2 years of hire

Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate required, or within 1 year of hire

Preferred Education Background:

You will likely have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer science, computer engineering, management information systems, information technology or a related area, and/or the equivalent of 3+ years of experience in the IT sector.

Additional Requirements

  • You will be willing to travel interstate if required for project requirements.
  • Australian Citizenship is required due to the nature of clients we work within Canberra.
  • Applicants should be willing to undergo a security clearance.
  • An existing Baseline Security Clearance will be an added advantage.
