User Experience Lead

Avanade X, the new digital agency within Avanade, is looking for imaginative experience designers to join the team. With data, creativity and engineering working together, Avanade X is here to help clients imagine what’s possible, put technology to work for people, and create a greater enduring impact in the world.

We’re seeking a User Experience Lead who can oversee other creatives and help drive creative outputs for the brands that we serve.

A successful User Experience Lead at Avanade X knows design thinking like the back of their hand, loves solving complex problems, and challenges others to think beyond what great experience means.  

You have 7+ years' experience in experience design, including managing teams and understanding the business. You have overseen teams through product delivery and know how to manage client expectations.

You love pitching and getting clients excited about the art of the possible and experience trends. You love working with clients, getting them to think outside the box, while delivering their vision and helping them meet their business goals.  

You love inspiring other creatives and delivering design, using design thinking and collaboration to challenge the obvious and generate creative outputs. You want to oversee, grow, and mentor amazing people.  

You thrive on challenges and are a go-getter, leader, coach, team player, creative thinker, and client partner. When you end your day, you know that you’ve made a genuine human impact.  


A day in the life of a User Experience Lead at Avanade X

  • Contributes to the growth of the XD team by elevating design maturity, overseeing designers, and hiring talented individuals
  • Work directly with clients to build relationships, understanding their business goals and product vision
  • Work on and lead pitches and business development efforts to win new work  
  • Overseeing design delivery of products and being hands-on from beginning to end, including research, workshops, concepting and storytelling, product strategy and visioning, usability testing, prototyping, personas, journey maps, design requirements, sitemaps, storyboards, wireframes, and visual designs  
  • Translating business needs and research insights into the product vision and design  

Your previous experience ideally includes

  • Experience working in a client consulting and/or agency capacity
  • Knowledge of design systems, service design, and using lean UX, design sprints, or other agile ways of working  
  • Facilitating design thinking workshops and using a range of methodologies for user research and interpreting the results accurately (LUMA Certification is a plus)
  • Phenomenal interpersonal skills for collaborating, mentoring, and coaching
  • Experience designing for a variety of industries and across multiple channels, including web, mobile and native applications
  • Fluency in French is a plus
