About the role


The Modern Workplace team consults with clients on communication systems and Internet work strategies, with a focus on Skype for Business Online (soon to be Microsoft Teams) in an enterprise environment.

 

As a Manager Consultant in Modern Workplace, you will design innovative and cost-effective communication systems that help our clients work more efficiently and effectively, particularly across multiple geographic locations. You will work with clients to understand their business challenges and then partner with cross-functional technology and design teams at Avanade to meet their needs using the right combination of technology and operational guidance.


Day-to-day, you will:


  • Lead and review your team’s work across all phases (plan, analyze, design, build and test)
  • Direct efforts to define technical, operational and user requirements
  • Design conceptual architecture and technical solutions and lead efforts to develop and implement client-approved solution
  • Take responsibility for project activities including work estimation, planning, stakeholder management and project quality
  • Own partnership with cross-functional technology and design teams to ensure consistent, beneficial client interaction and solution delivery
  • Ensure that offshore resources are leveraged appropriately
  • Take an active role in sales activities and planning as required 

About you


You are eager to work on the latest Microsoft Team / Skype for Business technologies and to help clients use the latest unified communications technologies to bring global work-forces together and create new ways of working.

 

Your technical skill set likely includes:

  • Experience in Skype for Business deployments and migrations, unified communications solutions, network design, network protocols and voice over IP (VoIP)
  • Experience with Office 365 tenant configuration and Active Directory/ADFS services
  • Experience with session initiation protocol, e911, Session Border Controllers, video conferencing systems, network assessment and troubleshooting, load balancing and virtualization
  • Proficient with Windows PowerShell and other scripting languages
  • Experience with technology project design and delivery.

Your business skills likely include:

  • Experience interacting with external clients, global teams and offshore staff
  • Demonstrated excellence in communicating and presenting complex information to technical and non-technical stakeholders, both verbally and in written form
  • Solid written and spoken English skills
  • You likely have a Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, computer engineering, management information systems, information technology, or a similar field. 
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for a degree.
  • Within two years of your hire date, you will likely attain your Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate certification in Windows Server and your Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert certification in Server Infrastructure. 
  • Highly valued are Microsoft Certified IT Professional, Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist, Microsoft Certified Master, Premier Support for Lync Partners and other networking or Skype for Business-related certifications.

Key Qualifications:

  • Experience in designing, deploying, and supporting enterprise networks and unified communications solutions. Some management or supervisory experience is preferred but not required.
  • Experience in Skype for Business deployments and migrations, unified communications solutions, network design, network protocols and voice over IP (VOIP)
  • Experienced with administration of: Windows Server, Skype, and other Microsoft server and desktop technologies.
  • Understanding of: TCP/IP networking technology (switch, router, firewall), Reverse Proxy, Load balancers, Office 365, SIP, VOIP, Hyper-V, and SAN solutions.
  • Experience in troubleshooting of Skype platform systems, VoIP interconnections, SIP telephony, and Carrier or PBX interoperability
