Job Description

We are looking for a Front-end developer to join our software engineering community and help grow our Adelaide based team. 

As a Front-End developer, you will develop rich and interactive web UIs. You will use design, styling and scripting to support external clients' business strategy and to deliver compelling applications and experiences. You will integrate User Interfaces with various APIs, analytics, and management systems, and contribute to solution specifications to client specifications.

Day to day responsibilities 

  • Make it real - bring concepts and designs for user-facing web applications to life with responsive and adaptive approaches to create beautiful and accessible experiences 
  • Use modern web development and DevOps practices to develop, test, debug and deploy robust solutions with consideration to security, performance, internationalization, and browser-compatibility 
  • Work with other developers, designers, and architects to make sure that the configuration and custom components meet application requirements and performance goals. 
  • Plan and execute all required process steps as defined in our methodologies and anticipate, identify, track and resolve issues and risks affecting delivery. 
  • Fix any defects and performance problems discovered in testing and participate in transitions of the application or technical architecture components to the Quality Engineers. 
  • Create technical and functional/end-user operational documentation for the software or system. 
  • Meet milestones and related effort/time commitments for assigned deliverables and provide work status, including estimated-time-to-complete and actuals. 
  • Coordinate with and leverage offshore resources.  

Technical and non-technical skills 

  • React JS with experience in developing class and functional components with a strong knowledge of modern React concepts such as context and hooksExperience with React state management in Redux 
  • Strong expertise in working with Node JS, WebPackNextJS and other tools related to Front End Development 
  • Strong experience in integrating React components with RESTful APIs with promises, async/await or libraries such as Axios 
  • Experience in designing & developing reusable front-end frameworks, node modules and toolsExperience in designing and structuring components using methodologies such as Atomic design 
  • Translating designs and wireframes into high quality code 
  • Experience in modern authorization mechanisms, such as JSON Web Token 
  • Expert in HTML5 and styling components with Styled Components, CSS, SASS, LESS 
  • Understanding of the full web technology stack (e.g. HTTP, cookies, headers, asset loading/caching) 
  • Experience in developing enterprise level responsive web pages or applications, and implementing web accessibility using ARIA techniques is a plus 
  • Experience in unit testing code with JEST / enzyme / Jasmine / Mocha / Chai is desired 
  • Preferred experience using project management tools such as Azure DevOps 
  • Working with agile and waterfall-based delivery methodologies 
  • Application development, complex code development, application testing and component design 
  • Ability to work in teams and individually when needed, including global and offshore teams for delivery 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills 
  • Demonstrated excellence in communicating and presenting complex information to technical and non-technical stakeholders, both verbally and in written form 

Additional requirements 

  • 3-5 years relevant work experience 
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS or related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also suffice. 
  • Applicants must hold Australian Citizenship 
  • Ability to travel domestically as required
