About the role 

 

Market Units are what we want to be known for in the market; they are the areas on which our clients most frequently seek our guidance during their digital transformation journey. Within our Market Units, we have core Offerings, which are the solutions we deliver to our clients. By specializing in and formalizing these select Offerings, we can deepen our relationships with our clients across their entire business and compete in new areas, helping us to grow our market share. The Incubation and Portfolio Director is the strategic owner of the broader GMU portfolio and is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end lifecycle for the Global Market Unit offerings, from idea generation to Retirement/or Strategy Pivot.  This encompasses several activities that include intake of new ideas from multiple internal and external sources, analysis of offering maturity and health, visualization of overall offerings portfolio, and facilitation of strategic discussions with Market Unit executives that drive future direction of their offerings.

The Incubation and Portfolio Director is also focused on Avanade’s growth initiatives and will lead teams in new areas that will expand the business boundaries of Avanade.  You will be responsible for incubating new offerings across market units and will be actively involved with the definition of incubation areas with Avanade sales and delivery teams and clients, helping to shape deals, implement early client solutions, and ensure continuous solution improvement and client satisfaction. You will also be responsible for growing these new businesses.  

Day-to-day, you will: 

 

·        Develop portfolio and incubation processes to repeat and scale.

·        Manages the stage process gates to ensure successful delivery.

·        Define future incubation offering direction, business goals and metrics in alignment with business commitments and market demand.

·        Act as the voice of the client in the definition of innovative solutions. Define offering requirements by driving user research, design and analyses.

·        Understand offering business and monetization models and work with market unit and marketing to define the go to market.

·        Work with the partner ecosystem team to analyze needs and potential partners.

·        Understand competitive offerings and value and find product market fit, define our feature plans and scenarios.

·        Partner and work collaboratively with people across the global market unit teams and our regions, deliver scale the incubation business.

·        Synthesize inputs from internal and external sources to determine which new opportunities Avanade should focus on

·        Review offering maturity at every step of the lifecycle and determine when there is movement from one phase of the lifecycle to another using stage gating criteria

·        Facilitate the necessary discussions with MU leadership to assess maturity and health of offerings and drive necessary discussions and decisions to drive value creation

·        Travel as needed. 

 

About you 

 

You possess a broad base of skills and knowledge spanning digital technology, strategy and business planning and research, user experience design, engineering and agile/lean development practices. You must possess an entrepreneurial drive to develop new products or services, while managing client needs and timeframes to broker complex relationships that evolve into real solutions. The ultimate success of an Incubation and Portfolio Director hinges on your ability to guide your peers while influencing decision makers.

 

Your business skillset likely includes:  

 

·        Working knowledge of agile development methodologies

·        Experience launching at least one digital product

·        An ability to think strategically and creatively

·        Superior interpersonal and communication skills

·        The ability to ensure the confidentiality of sensitive information and thrive in a fast-paced, intellectually demanding and service-oriented environment

·        The capacity for self-motivation, independent initiative and creative problem-solving

·        A diligent attention to detail and strong technical intuition

·        Experience working in a consulting environment  

·        Strong coaching and mentoring skills, with ability to influence without authority 

·        Outstanding communication and presentation skills and effective client relationship management 

·        Ability to foster a team-based delivery mindset and build a high-performance culture

·        Ability to lead through influence

·        Experience in facilitating strategic discussions to drive value creation

·        Visualization of data and an analytical mindset are key success criteria

 

You likely have around 7 years of experience that includes consulting or customer leadership experience incubating new businesses. A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent is preferred.
