Role Overview

As a Senior Azure Infrastructure Architect, you will lead a team to plan, analyze, design, build, test and deploy enterprise Microsoft technology infrastructures on the Azure Public Cloud. You will apply expertise and technical experience crafting systems to support customer needs and contribute to our vast repository of intellectual property. Additionally, you will coach, train, and mentor team members and customers. And, you will be involved in the selling of Avanade solutions, proposal development, change requirements, some marketing/PR initiatives, and developing customer relationships and analyzing the customer's business as well as some Delivery Solutioning.

Key Role Responsibilities

Day-to-day, you will:

  • Lead in all phases of Avanade projects (Plan, Analyze, Design, Build and Test)
  • Assist in advising clients on an overall IT plans including efficiently spending on existing and new technologies and integrating technology solutions in ways that build value for the organization
  • Work and communicate effectively with clients to ensure smooth and successful design and implementation of Avanade solutions
  • Help establish partnership with multi-functional technology and design teams to integrate technology, operations, and solution requirements into solution strategies
  • Oversee ongoing development of infrastructure solutions within designated computing environments
  • Define information technology operations, processes, procedures and toolsets to manage and maintain requirements specified for a solution
  • Manage change plan implementation to ensure successful project delivery and deployment
  • Lead partnership with and team utilization efforts of off-shore resources
  • Manage, evaluate performance of, provide feedback to, coach, and provide career mentorship to Analyst and Consultant level team members
  • Begin taking more active role in operational and business-development aspects of the consulting practice

Skill & Capability Requirements:

Technical Requirements:

  • Strong consulting experience with large scale migrations to Cloud Providers such as Azure, AWS, Google, IBM
  • Knowledge of infrastructure solutions, specifically in relation to Microsoft programs, platform migration, system security, enterprise directories, and cloud technologies.
  • Deep understanding of cloud computing technologies across Windows and Linux, with demonstrated hands-on experience in one or more of the following domains:
  • Azure Core Platform: Compute (Iaas & Paas), Storage, Networking
  • Monitoring, alerting and logging tools, and build/release processes highly preferred
  • Azure HA/DR, scaling and backup solutions (ASR, Azure Backup, Scale Sets)
  • Strong knowledge in authentication patterns (MFA)
  • Experience with Continuous Integration Delivery models
  • General automation, Azure Automation, Azure CLI, Ansible highly preferred, PowerShell scripting. (core/highly desirable)
  • Strong knowledge with network topologies and technologies with emphasis on network gateway devices (ingress/egress)
  • Familiarity with web technologies. (web servers, proxies, certificates)
  • Application migration experience (VMware) would be a plus
  • Demonstrated experience with azure DevOps, including automation/infrastructure as code.
  • Knowledge of Oracle and/or SQL databases
  • Linux (RHEL, CentOS) experience is favourable

Non-Technical Requirements

  • You will likely have 4+ years in a senior architect position using Cloud technologies
  • Experience consulting to external clients on complex projects and leading technology infrastructure projects & global teams on projects & off-shore teams to facilitate project work
  • Demonstrated excellence in communicating and presenting complex information to technical and non-technical partners, both verbally and in written form
  • Experience making use of service brokering in project work
  • Strong commercial awareness and financial intelligence (e.g., P&Ls, how decisions impact cost, profit, etc.)
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills

Preferred Certifications:

  • MCSA – Windows Server 2016 required, or within 1 year of hire
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate required, or within 1 year of hire
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert required, or within 1 year of hire

Preferred Education Background

  • You will likely have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer science, computer engineering, management information systems, information technology or a related area, and/or the equivalent of 7+ years of experience in the IT sector.

Additional Requirements:

  • You will be willing to travel interstate if required for project requirements.
  • Australian Citizenship is required due to the nature of clients we work within Canberra.
  • Applicants should be willing to undergo a security clearance.
  • An existing Baseline Security Clearance will be an added advantage.
