  • Are committed to growth – for the organization and for each individual

Job Description:

Avanade’s greatest asset is our people – and our people are passionate about working with the world around them. Our developer relations team lives and breathes technology, spreading that passion to open-source communities, whilst also embracing citizen-developers, academia, and non-technical folks; a rising ocean of technical talent lifts all ships.

We’re constantly questioning why – reinventing our approach to remove friction from our open-source processes, ensuring that our people can spend their time in code, in community building, and in a flow state.

Ultimately, our global team opens our minds to technology, engages technical communities, and does great things. Open, engage, do.

Our developer relations team are the vanguard of technology ambassadors for Avanade, providing thought leadership around Developer Relations - in this role, you’ll devise and own the developer relations strategy.

Key Role Responsibilities:

To raise the profile of Avanade in the technical community

  • Produce and promote content that may interest and/or benefit the technical community
  • Attend developer events to represent Avanade and our technical competency
  • Keep a finger on the pulse of what the tech community is talking about and share the findings
  • Speak at developer events, and empower others within Avanade to do the same
  • Promote Open-Source contribution and projects, including support for the Open-Source Projects Office
  • Engage with marketing to identify possible industry awards across Open-Source, DevRel, Emerging Tech and other community elements
  • Collaborate with the Office of the CTO technical people manager, to engage Avanade’s MVPs and Technical Leadership Career (TLCP) path in a joined together way
  • Champion for Avanade, and exemplify the technical qualities we aim to showcase, as potentially the first point of contact a developer has with Avanade

To build relationships in the technical community and other relevant organisations

  • Engage and work with stakeholders including the Microsoft Office of the CTO, Microsoft Open-Source Project office, and the Linux Foundation to build additional credibility and deep relationships
  • Connect with the technical community on social media, such as Twitter, through curated twitter lists
  • Collaborate with developers where they are – from Reddit and HackerNews, through to Stack Overflow
  • Spend dedicated time contributing to relevant open-source communities on behalf of Avanade

To inspire the technical community

  • Create content which is useful for the developer community, such as a calendar of developer events, or articles around the Microsoft ecosystem with a technical tone of voice
  • Engage with non-traditional marketing channels for Avanade, including TikTok and Twitch
  • Listen to feedback from the developer community about Avanade and our engagement with open source and other aspects, and strive to improve our engagement with the community

To attract the technical community

  • Work with Talent Acquisition on attracting and retaining talent, including sponsorship, events, and other opportunities
  • Work with our marketing teams around promoting Avanade and our developer relations messaging
  • To work with innovation & emerging technology on evangelising our most innovative work

To help other parts of the business succeed

  • Work with the Global Solution Areas to engage deeply technical communities
  • Create a blueprint and support/co-ordinate developer relations activity across Avanade as it incubates within the organisation
  • Work with Talent Acquisition and HR to support our employee value proposition in the technology space
  • Identify open-source software opportunities that Avanade could create, sponsor, or co-create with our clients
  • Promote and represent Avanade’s values including inclusivity and equality
  • Authentically help the broader technical community within and without Avanade
  • Engage and empower our people and technical talent communities including Software Engineering, Analytics, to be developer relations and open-source ambassadors themselves
  • Sharing guidance and knowledge with the SISA community
  • Flexibility to join a client engagement as a speaker to support on the topic of developer relations
