Avanade is looking for a passionate Data Architect with vertical industry experience, technology and business insight to join our Digital Mining Hub in Perth, WA. Our team is proficient in understanding our Clients’ technical needs and building mutually beneficial business value with them. Your job will be to identify new business opportunities with both existing and new Clients, working collaboratively with our Sales & Business Development organisation to build deep Client relationships, accelerating and enabling cloud Data & Analytics solutions creation and deployment (including IoT and Intelligent Edge), powered by Microsoft, 3rd-party, and open source technologies.

As a Data Architecture Group Manager, you will use comprehensive modern data engineering techniques and methods with Advanced Analytics to support business decisions for our Clients. You can collect, aggregate, and analyse structured/unstructured data from multiple internal and external sources and patterns, insights, and trends to decision-makers. Your goal is to support the use of data-driven insights to help our Clients achieve business outcomes and objectives.

In this role, you will collect, aggregate, store, and reconcile data in support of Client business decisions. You will help design and build data pipelines, data streams, reporting tools, information dashboards, data service APIs, data generators and other end-user information portals and insight tools. You will be a critical part of the data supply chain, ensuring that partners can access and manipulate data for routine and ad hoc analysis to drive business outcomes using Advanced Analytics.

Day to day you will:

Lead the planning, design and delivery of Enterprise Data Warehouse & BI, big data and advanced analytics projects.

Lead the planning, design and delivery of industry-leading edge-to-action IoT solutions by partnering with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), independent software vendors (ISVs) and Clients to build repeatable and scalable IoT connected solutions.

Translate business requirements to technical solutions demonstrating strong business acumen.

Facilitate Client workshops using design-led thinking techniques to elicit requirements and drive creative thinking.

Develop and take end-to-end accountability for the solution architecture of Client projects.

Delivery of architectures for transformations and modernisations of enterprise data solutions using Azure Data & Analytics services (including Azure IoT Platform).

Provide technical leadership to a team of analysts, designers, developers and testers to ensure architecture and design integrity of the solution delivered to Clients.

Work with deal teams to provide domain expertise and solutioning support for Client proposals and RFPs.

Analyse current business practices, processes and procedures as well as identifying future business opportunities for using Microsoft Azure Data & Analytics Services (including Azure IoT Platform).

Support the planning and implementation of data design services, providing sizing and configuration assistance and performing needs assessments.

Design and build modern Data Pipelines and Data Streams.

Design and build Data Service APIs.

Develop and maintain cloud data solutions schematics, layouts, architectures and relational/non-relational databases for data access and Advanced Analytics.

Expose data to end users using PowerBI, Azure API Apps or any other modern visualisation platform or experience.

Implement effective metrics and monitoring processes.

Required Capabilities

Demonstrated significant experience in architecting and delivering large-scale Enterprise Data Warehouse and Big Data solutions.

Excellent presentation, communication, workshop facilitation, stakeholder interviewing, active listening and story-telling skills.

Strong business and IT stakeholder management experience.

Demonstrated experience in turning business use cases and requirements to technical solutions.

Mastery of .NET C# and T-SQL with the familiarity of U-SQL is required.

Knowledge of Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL DW, Azure App Service is required.

Experience with Hadoop (Cloudera/Hortonworks) technologies is required.

Practical experience in the implementation of Hadoop integration technologies such as Sqoop, MapReduce, Hive, Pig, Spark/Cassandra, Kafka, Flume, HBase.

Knowledge of Lambda and Kappa architecture patterns.

Knowledge of Azure IoT architecture and technologies.

Experience and IoT market knowledge in vertical industries such as Mining, Oil & Gas and Utilities is preferable.

Azure HDInsight + Spark, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure Databricks, Azure Stream Analytics is a plus.

Knowledge of Python is a plus.

Experience preparing data for use in Azure Machine Learning and/or Azure Databricks is a plus.

Experience preparing data and building data pipelines for AI Use Cases (text, voice, image, video, etc.) is a plus.

Knowledge of broader Information Management frameworks, including Master Data Management (MDM). Metadata Management and Data Quality tools and processes.

Strong team collaboration and experience working with remote virtual teams.

Knowledge of Dev-Ops processes (including CI/CD) and Infrastructure as code fundamentals.
