As a Cloud Architect, you will work with our clients and lead the deployment of complex enterprise sale Azure solutions. These could include:
The creation of cloud foundations
Design and deployment of net-new cloud native solutions
Migration and modernization of existing workloads
Enabling organization transformation to a cloud-first model
Cloud transformation at this scale will require you to be a subject matter expert in public cloud in general and Microsoft Azure in particular. You will also be conversant in modern engineering practices and methods such as Infrastructure as code (IaC) and Configuration as Code (CaC).
You will be able to demonstrate that you understand the challenges of enterprise scale cloud adoption and that you have a track record of helping large and complex clients successfully adopt the public cloud for mission critical workloads.
This role will be accountable for Azure technical engagements including architectural design sessions, proofs of concepts (PoC)s through to full multi-year cloud transformation programs. The ideal candidate will have experience in client facing roles and leading deep technical architecture discussions with all client stakeholders from engineering up to senior client executives.
Day-to-day, you will:
Accelerate cloud adoption in strategic accounts by providing deep technical expertise, aligned to Industry, Microsoft and Avanade’s recommended practices
Lead projects, create collateral, coach, mentor and encourage team members
Be accountable for the overall quality of the engagements you lead
Identify, validate, and grow opportunities in strategic accounts by driving solutions aligned to Avanade’s offerings, in partnership with the Avanade business development team
Provide hands-on-keyboard services where required
Acquire required Azure technical certification
Keep up to date with market trends and competitive insights
You are an experienced technology architect with strong business acumen. You are as comfortable working with a technical team as you are with client business leaders and you know how to build bridges between the two. With your excellent communications skills, you are adept at mapping business needs to technology solutions and helping non-technical audiences understand the benefits of these solutions.
Your technical skillset includes but is not limited to:
General technical understanding of cloud platforms and supporting technologies
Deep technical experience in Microsoft Azure
Detailed knowledge of cloud foundational components such as identity and access management (IAM) software defined networking, security, governance, and compliance
Understanding of cloud automation and orchestration tools and techniques including git, terraform, Azure DevOps, ARM or equivalent
10+ years of Information Technology field experience
5+ years of architecture, design, implementation, and support of highly complex solutions (i.e. having an architectural sense for ensuring security and compliance, availability, reliability, etc.)
Experience in migrating on-premise workloads to the cloud
At least one of the Azure technical certification exams
Competitive product experience such as Google Cloud and AWS are an asset
Your non-technical (soft skills) experience includes:
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English (French also an asset)
Communicating and presenting complex information to technical and non-technical stakeholders, both orally and in written form
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to lead and manage large technical teams on-shore and off-shore
Prior work experience in a consulting/architecture position
Strong analytical, deductive reasoning, and problem-solving skills
