Job Description

Role Overview:

As a Consultant, Infrastructure Consulting, you will design, install, and configure enterprise technology architecture, components of which include security, availability/fail-over, OS/compute infrastructure, storage infrastructure, database infrastructure, network infrastructure, and operations, typically in Microsoft or multi-vendor on-premises and cloud environments. You will apply functional knowledge and technical expertise in the design of systems to support customer needs and for some smaller projects, you may be responsible for some people / project / program management responsibilities.

Key Role Responsibilities:

Day to day you will: 
  • Contribute to all phases of Avanade projects (Plan, Analyze, Design, Build and Test) 
  • Partner with cross-functional technology and design teams to integrate technology, operations and solution requirements into solution strategies 
  • Develop and modify infrastructure solutions within designated computing environments, relying on specialized infrastructure / networking knowledge 
  • Create project deliverable documentation, including design, build, and operations guides 
  • Work and interact directly with clients to transform information technology landscapes to new technology environments 
  • Define and establish information technology operations, processes, procedures and toolsets to manage and maintain requirements specified for a solution. 
  • Conduct systems integration testing (SIT), component integration testing (CIT), and user acceptance testing (UAT) 
  • Coordinate with and leverage off-shore resources 
  • Support creation and execution of change management efforts that accompany solutions 
  • Occasionally manage project components and/or a limited junior-level resources as needed"

Key Role Skill & Capability Requirements:

Technical Requirements: 
  • Experience in several of the following areas: infrastructure solutions (especially Microsoft), cloud technologies, networking, data center operations, platform and cloud migration, and enterprise directories 
  • Experience with operation management, systems security, testing, databases and mobility considerations 
  • Experience in DevOps, IaC, CI/CD and tools like Terraform
  • Experience deploying container-based applications using tools such as Docker, Kubernetes
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies including enterprise or hosting provider services including SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS solutions.
  • Experience in Azure IaaS (with good fundamentals in network and security) as well as PaaS. 
  • Experience with application, infrastructure and security architecture and non-functional aspects like performance, scalability, reliability, availability.
  • Experience with design and implementation experience with Active Directory, Azure AD, AD FS is a plus.
  • Knowledge in automation, PowerShell or any other scripting languages is a plus

Non-Technical Requirements 
  • Experience interacting with external clients in a professional capacity 
  • Experience working with global teams on projects 
  • Experience working with off-shore teams to facilitate project work 
  • Demonstrated excellence in communicating and presenting complex information to technical and non-technical stakeholders, both verbally and in written form 
  • Solid written and spoken English skills

Preferred Certifications:

MCSE: Core Infrastructure required 
Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
Microsoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer Expert
Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert

Preferred Education Background:

You will likely possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS, Information Technology, or similar degree; equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for degree.

Preferred Years of Work Experience:

You will likely have 4+ years of relevant systems engineering and/or infrastructure experience

Preferred Years of Management Experience:  

Scope of Work:

Nature of Work: Executes project/program plans and processes in alignment with established operational objectives.
Scope of Work: Primarily focused on own work, and execution of prescribed work plans.
Complexity: Complex problems primarily within one's occupation / discipline that require personal judgement of contextual factors.

Organizational Impact: Work efforts have an immediate impact on Avanade and/or client operations.
Supervision Received: Works under general guidance and direction, but fully independent in own work with latitude for autonomous decision-making related to work process.
Supervision Provided: Supports more junior colleagues on work efforts, with some checking of work. 
Knowledge Applied: Applies advanced knowledge of a learned occupation / discipline.
