Job Description

Role Overview

As a Program/Project Management Consultant, you will be accountable for ensuring that the project's assigned portion of the Business Case planned value is delivered and that the product fulfils the contract and meets the sponsor's expectations. This role will actively support sales, estimating, planning, mobilization, execution and successful closure of projects. 
During the project life cycle, you will communicate status with regular frequency, manage risks and issues, and monitor financial performance according to in-place agreements made between Avanade and the customer.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Define and implement planning standards for programmes to enable ease of roll-up of milestone data and dependencies, liaising with programme/project managers to ensuring a common standard across all programmes. 
  • Own and maintain the planning standards with attention to continuous process improvement.
  • Facilitate the design, development and ownership of the portfolio, programme and project plans ensuring all milestones and dependencies are identified, logged and monitored 
  • Ensure plans are maintained and updated and that missed milestones and dependencies are escalated and assessed for impact.
  • Provide planning support and planning skills transfer to projects that have relatively inexperienced project managers who may be new to the required planning standards.
  • Provide assurance on the status of programme and project plans and their maintenance through regular reporting into the Head of Programme Management and the Programme Management Office. 
  • Contribute to portfolio planning and prioritisation activities as required.
  • Ensure the identification, tracking and mapping of all programme interdependencies.
  • Provide assurance on programme dependencies through regular reporting into the Head of Programme Management and the Programme Management Office. 
  • Identifying potential conflicts between programme/project plans and/or critical dependencies that may need to be managed as risks, suggesting possible mitigations
  • Working with programme and project managers to help them to get their plans fit for purpose so that the achievability of key milestones can be better understood by programme boards

Technical skills and knowledge

  • Working knowledge of project/product management methods, tools, techniques
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft platform technologies
