Role Overview:
- Avanade is seeking an experienced attorney to join the UKI Legal team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a legal team made up of four attorneys (with one vacant spot) and two offshore legal resources, in what is currently Avanade’s largest Region globally.
- You will report to the UKI Regional Legal Lead.
- You will partner with the business to shape and drive initiatives that may have a UKI or global focus.
- Whilst the role can be worked flexibly an office presence of one or two days per week is recommended to connect with your teammates and with business stakeholders in person.
Key Role Responsibilities:
As a UKI Senior Legal Counsel you will:
- Manage a range of legal matters for the UKI business ranging from contractual negotiations, intellectual property matters and disputes to employment matters and corporate entity management matters.
- Have extensive contractual negotiation experience and be comfortable negotiating with both external counsel and in-house client teams on client contracts.
- Resolve issues and disputes, minimize potential for litigation and foster protection of Avanade’s reputation.
- Help Delivery and Business leadership to manage existing contracts with clients, requiring a solid understanding of legal obligations and their implications, along with a command of principled negotiation.
- Develop and drive the use of standard templates and delivery. Support and develop internal guidelines, toolkits and packaged knowledge on various legal and business issues.
- Maintain the team’s strong reputation within the UKI business by providing consistent and sound business lawyering, allowing Avanade UKI to balance risk appropriately across a broad direct portfolio. Client centric lawyering and timely contract closures remain at the heart of what this team is known for.

Shared success with our clients is always at the forefront of your lawyering, you focus on the issues that matter most in the context of the industries our clients work in and the way we deliver our offerings. You display sound judgement and a strong business perspective making you a trusted business partner as well as a role model within your team.
In addition, you have:
- Strong academic credentials and admitted to practice law in England and Wales or an equivalent recognized jurisdiction.
- 7+ years of experience as a legal counsel, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience of working in an in-house legal department.
- Excellent judgment, ability to prioritize and make decisions. Highly responsive, ability to meet deadlines with short time frames, strong organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently with some supervision and to escalate issues in a timely manner for resolution.
- Superior communication skills, able to listen actively and integrate information from various sources quickly. You communicate legal advice in an accessible and effective manner, tailored to suit the business audience.
- Ability to work as a member of a team in a fast-paced environment.
